Install A Sliding Door | How to Easily Remove An Old Door and Install A New One

Last year, I replaced our old, original front door - a quick project with amazing results!

Now it’s time for our back sliding door replacement, which is long overdue.

This door is aluminum, single pane and extremely inefficient. The lock has been broken, the exterior handle recently crumbled (yikes)… but really the worst part is the terrible sound the door makes every single time it is opened or closed. Safe to say no burglars are getting in unannounced.

It’s a project that isn’t that hard, and done in one day! I’ve covered the entire process in my YouTube video for you.

Things I used in this project:

This process briefly leaves a big hole in your house, so I did lots of preparation for the project before starting to ensure a smooth transition.

Testing out the MUCH quieter door!

Instead of reinstalling the old exterior vinyl trim, I decided to upgrade and add some cedar trim. I love how cedar gives warmth and dimension to the door.

I really leveled up on the inside and installed custom white oak trim 😍
